Reference: Hebrews 11: 1 – 11
One day, Pastor John Bisagno was reading in his study when his daughter, Melody, aged 5, came and asked him for a doll house. John promptly nodded his head, promised to build the doll house and resumed his reading. A few minutes later, he looked out of the window and saw Melody moving up and about outside the yard. On closer inspection, John noticed there was a huge pile of dolls, dishes and other playthings lying on the ground.
“What is going on?” he asked his wife.
“Oh, remember you promised Melody a doll house? She is getting ready for it!” his wife replied.
Suddenly, John threw the book aside, raced into the yard and immediately started building the doll house. He didnt build the doll house because Melody deserved it or because he wanted to do it. He did it because he had given his word and Melody had acted upon it in faith.
Faith is stepping out in advance as we pursue an answer from God. When we are willing to trust God in total surrender, He does amazing things that transform our lives. Peter was able to walk on water because he had stepped out in faith and trusted in advance that it was possible (Matthew 14: 28 – 29). God is looking out for that one person who will step out, in advance, in trust and in total surrender believing that an answer is coming.
Faith is expecting a miracle and a breakthrough. While we are waiting, we should continue speaking words of faith to the situations in our lives. Just the other day, Christians were praying for rain. The next day, none of them carried umbrellas in expectation. As Christians, we need to act in expectation like going out with umbrellas after we have asked God for rain. This is what will set us apart from non-believers.
Faith is learning to ask abundantly and expect abundant response because Our God is the God of abundance (Ephesians 3:20 and Matthew 11: 22 – 25). We should therefore ask God for bigger things, be able to see the bigger picture and have the ability of stepping out boldly in faith.
Faith is a bold step of confidence knowing that God has heard and answered the desires of our hearts (Hebrews 4:16). In order to see and experience breakthroughs in our lives, we need to approach Gods throne in confidence knowing that He has already handed us our victory in advance. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. The same God Who gave Joshua, Gideon and Deborah victory, is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ever imagine or think as long as we take a bold step in confidence.
Faith is persistent and consistent dependence on God knowing that He alone has the answers to our life issues and situations. We should remain steadfast in our conviction that God is going to answer out prayers (Luke 18: 6 – 8). May we continue having faith in advance and in total surrender to God because He loves us so much!
May God bless, favour and give you victory!
